Gameplay

Age Requirement

Necrosis can be rough, very rough. If you're under 18 you need your parent's permission to play on Necrosis. This is just so you youngsters out there don't blame us if you have nightmares about zombies eatting your brains, guts falling out of you, or botflies laying maggots in your flesh.

DMs Are Right

DMs are always right, even if they're wrong. Yeah, we know we make mistakes, but for the sake of argument, just let them win and don't be a jerk about it. We're trying to make the game enjoyable for everyone, so let's not fight, let's just play.

Take the Bad With the Good

Negative outcomes WILL happen to your character. Don't go getting angry OOC or upset and hiding OOC. I can tell you, DMs like to make everything look like it's about to end your life, then somehow you survive. Sometimes it does end your life though <_<, but isn't that what RP is? Living another life as a character? People have misfortune in the real world so of course it will happen in a fake one. Don't expect an epic death for your character written in legends, you might just die to a scorpion in a pit.

No OOC Hate

OOC hate is a reason to ban people and we will be banning people for it. If you spread any information OOC that's intent is to cause a player to hate another (including DMs) you will be banned from the server depending on the degree of said hate.

No Begging

No begging for items or experience. Seriously, you're not the only one who does. We put a bunch and will put a bunch of stuff you can get, so just go and get it on your own. You don't want us to play for you do you?

No Harassment IC

No sexual harrassment in character without asking first. Yes, sexual harassment can be funny, but molestation and rape can be very very bad for people and I'm not about to say "Yeah, go ahead and do it when you want!" no matter how realistic the server is. This is one of those, keep it friendly OOC deals.

No Cybering

Please don't ask for a definition. Ignorance is not an excuse. No cybering on Necrosis, period.

No Cheating

No cheating. I can't list all the ways you can cheat, but you people know what cheating is. We're not in 3rd grade where I got to tell you everything. And yes, making characters and transferring items from another one IS cheating. Some people don't realize that *Rolls eyes*.

No PCs Who Know Each Other

Do not make PCs that have interaction with each other out of game. This ALSO includes muling and is considered a clear cut case of metagaming if you have PC's like this. If you make Bob and Ted, Bob and Ted don't know each other exist, period. And Muling is transferring items to another PC, even if it's IC. Selling something to another player and then buying it with another PC is muling. If you are caught, all items will be stripped from you or you might wind up with worse.

Don't Spam DMs

DMs get busy sometimes, so sending tells every 2 minutes like "Yo!" "I said hey!" "Are you ignoring me?!" "Oh my god, I just want to ask a question!" "HOLY CRAP! I HATE THIS SERVER!" "I was just kidding..." "No I wasn't..." That can be very annoying when you're in an event or otherwise predisposed. And usually it's people who don't read information we give out who ask that.

No Metagaming

No metagaming... yeah, that goes without saying. What is metagaming? Acting on information your character doesn't know but you do. For example, I have 0 lore, and I see a creature like, say, a Erinyes. Suddenly I go "Oh my god! It's a devil! Not to be confused with a demon because demons and devils are NOT the same..." Not bad for a guy who never bothered to read a book and gain some lore. So just keep that stuff under wraps.

Inquire of DMs First

It's OKAY to ask a DM if you can do something before you do it. In fact, we encourage it! The DM client is clunky and sometimes we need time to prepare. If we bring up an NPC as non-hostile, and you just run at it and attack, you pretty much JUST annoyed your DM because he didn't have time to react.

ALWAYS STAY IC

Always stay IC unless you're in OOC areas or talking in private chat. We already had a dufus who didn't get this concept even though he said he was an old school RP'er.

No Farming or XP Goal Crawling

You are not allowed to visit a dungeon more than once a day. Farming hurts everyone on the server. While you think you figured out a way to gather more stuff than everyone else, alls you will end up doing is making it so we have to lower drop rates to accommodate farmers. Guess what? We'e not going to do that. We'll just ban the farmers and leave drop rates so casual looters always have good stuff. So do yourself a favor and chill out. You'll get your 300 ingots eventually.

Also, don't go hitting every XP goal you can every other day as a routine. That's goal crawling. If you want more XP, try roleplaying in DM events.

No Child PCs

All PCs must be 16+ in age. All races must follow this rule and be of equivalent age.

No Having PCs in Rival Factions

All players must choose a primary faction to be involved in. This prevents meta gaming intentional or otherwise with seeing private information in corresponding faction forums. We have had cases of players abusing this in the past. Example - Infected and Militia.

PVP

Open PVP

Necrosis is open PVP as long as it has IC reason. Roleplay by nature will always put people against each other. You have the right to destroy someone when you wish.

SET HOSTILE FIRST

No one is allowed to attack a PC who isn't hostile. That's a rule. If you attack someone before setting them hostile, they have the right to complain. This is because of mechanics in the game that don't work if someone is not hostile. For example, spell resistence does not work if the player is not hostile.

OOC Courtesy

PvP is an opportunity to roleplay threat, impending doom, hunting etc. Whilst a target does not have to accept PvP for it to occur, it is polite to contact your opponent and inform them OOCly of your intentions with a view to fostering roleplay around the event. Contact a DM if you need arbitration.

If you kill someone, we ask you be courteous about it OOC. Don't get bitter at people and hunt them to the ends of the earth without remorse or with a vendetta. The world is smaller than the real world and where it'd be easier to escape in the real world, you have limited options in Necrosis.

No Griefing

Don't gank people while they're killing creatures or wait until they're AFK and stuff like that. Also, repeat killing people is obviously a no-brainer griefing. PvP without in-character motivation for OOC reasons is griefing.

Right to Respawn

Unless the player is out of vitality points, all players have the right to respawn unless an onlooking DM decides otherwise. This means that malicious attempts to cut off heads, burn corpses, or what not always fail. If they are out of vitality, then they succeed.

When You Need a DM

In PvP scenarios that would require a DM, (attacking in front of NPCs for example) either wait for the DM or simply do not do it if one is not available.

If the objective of the PvP is to knock someone out, drag them off to an event and perm them, they will not be permed without DM oversight. If you know something is wrong with what is happening, (or happened) stop and don't go along with it! If you are the victim, tell the assailant OOC you don't agree with how they did things and would like a DM ruling. Seek out a DM.

However, this does not mean you can call on a DM for every scuffle you have. You can only do this if the PvP was totally unjust.

Example 1: Group A killed Group B in front of an NPC that would otherwise save them.

Example 2: Player A is repeatedly killing Player B attempting to perm them.

Looting

No looting of items in PvP without a DM being involved. Very rarely will players agree between themselves about it and it's also rare for a player not to get all OOC annoyed about it.

Contact a DM if you want to do it. However, a DM is perfectly entitled to tell you "I don't want this hassle either." It's up to the DM. Unless we can persuade the player being robbed to agree without silly amounts of OOC drama, DMs are likely to just say no.

Note: This won't disuade DMs from taking stuff off characters if they feel it's appropriate to the events they are running. NPCs can rob PCs blind.

Memory Loss

If you revive or respawn, your character is considered to have 20 minutes real time memory loss. Tramau or otherwise explained. This means you cannot recall who killed you or why. This is to protect people such as assassins, muggers, or individuals who would have killed you otherwise but your right to respawn would expose them. You can recall all events if raise dead, or resurrection was used on you. If a DM revives you, ask the DM if you will have memory loss.

Fleeing

If you flee from PVP you cannot return to the location you fled from within 30 minutes to PVP. That means if someone attacks you in Fort Endeavor, and you flee to another area to buff, you can't come back and whoop their ass. And if you flee to gather support, you cannot return with support to gang up on them. This is to denote travel time across the world. We don't want to make travel between areas that would be miles apart seem like 20 seconds. This also includes NPC support. If the attacked follows you, then it's fair game.
